Barcelona finalise deal for Portuguese teenager Dani Freire

Barcelona have completed the signing of Portuguese teenager Dani Freire after his trial spell at the club and his 16th birthday allowed the move to be formalised.

Trial ends with Barca contract

Freire had been training with Barcelona in recent weeks and has now signed as a club player, according to the reporting from Mundo Deportivo. The deal had already been described as close, with the final step dependent on him reaching the legal age to put pen to paper.

The young forward spent last season with Racing FC Union Luxembourg and has also recently been called up to Portugal's Under-17 squad.

Set for Barcelona B

Barcelona plan to ease Freire into life under Cesc Bosch with the B team, after he worked with the coach in training sessions and several friendlies over recent weeks.

His summer form also drew positive notice. Freire scored three goals in a series of summer tournaments, was named player of the match, and also featured in a win over Real Madrid in an El Clásico at youth level.
