Barcelona hopeful over Rodri deal as talks continue

Barcelona remain hopeful of signing Rodri from Manchester City, but the deal is shaping up to be an expensive one.

Talks continue

The Spain midfielder left Madrid for England on Friday morning to join City’s squad after his summer break. He arrived at Liverpool airport later in the day and ignored questions from reporters about his future.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona’s confidence over the transfer is growing. Cadena COPE says the Catalan club do not plan to raise their offer above €70 million, with their current maximum set at €65 million plus bonuses.

No agreement yet

Sport reported that Rodri has been allowed to miss City’s training session on Friday as he waits for Barcelona to finish negotiations. No agreement is in place yet, but the gap between the clubs is described as small and an accord is expected in the coming days.

AS added that a move to Barcelona could cost the club a total of €210 million once the transfer fee, commission and wages are included.
