Jude Bellingham has called Harry Kane the best player in England's history after the captain scored in a 2-0 win over Panama at the 2026 World Cup.
Bellingham, who scored once and provided an assist in the match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, said playing alongside Kane was an honour. Kane netted England’s second goal from Bellingham’s pass and moved on to 11 World Cup goals, overtaking Gary Lineker as the Three Lions’ all-time top scorer in the tournament.
Speaking in the mixed zone, Bellingham said he has built a strong relationship with Kane over the past five years, especially since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He added that Kane’s influence on England is clear every time he plays.
Bellingham also said England were sharper after half-time against Panama and felt they could go up a gear after a slow start. The result left England top of Group L, which Bellingham said was one of the team’s main aims in the tournament.
He also said he is not sure whether he is in the best form of his career, adding that he plays deeper for Real Madrid than he does for England.
