Luis de la Fuente has praised Yeremy Pino’s rapid recovery from injury after the Spain forward trained normally ahead of their last-16 match against Austria in Los Angeles.
Speaking at a press conference at SoFi Stadium, the Spain coach said Pino’s return had been “like a miracle” and confirmed he is not a concern for the knockout tie. He also said Nico is out with minor pain and will miss the game, while Víctor trained without problems but has not played for some time.
De la Fuente said Spain welcome the pressure that comes with expectation and added that the squad are improving their automatisms again after a period of adjustment. He stressed there is no margin for error now, with the only target being victory.
He described Austria as an aggressive side and said Spain will need patience and accuracy in tight spaces if the match turns into a series of attacking and defensive duels. The coach also said penalties are being worked on as part of every possible scenario.
