Luis de la Fuente praised Spain’s display after their 3-0 win over Austria in the 2026 World Cup round of 32.
The Spain coach said his players turned in a superb performance in a match he expected to be difficult because it came in the knockout stage.
“Big teams come when you need them,” he said, adding that Spain were “almost perfect in every aspect” and showed a high hunger to keep succeeding.
De la Fuente also said there were still small details to fix, even though he was happy with what he saw against Austria.
He singled out Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored twice, for showing his quality in the game. He added that the rest of the squad were equally strong and said Spain must keep the same mindset as each match becomes harder than the last.
