Spain are set to extend Luis de la Fuente’s contract to 2032 after the federation’s administrative steps and board approval were completed.

Rafael Louzán, the president of the Spanish Football Federation, said the new deal will run through to the end of Euro 2032, which is due to be staged in Turkey and Italy. It would take de la Fuente to six more years in charge.
The agreement was first shaped during the World Cup and has now been given the green light. If completed, it would be the first time Spain have agreed such a long term with a national team coach.
De la Fuente’s next major targets would include Euro 2028, the 2030 World Cup and Euro 2032, plus three Nations League campaigns in 2027, 2029 and 2031.
Reward for trophy haul
The new contract is also set to bring a significant salary rise, according to the source material. De la Fuente has already added the Nations League, the European Championship and the World Cup to Spain’s honours under his spell.
His only miss came in the 2025 Nations League, when Spain lost on penalties to Portugal in Munich.
