Luis de la Fuente is set to remain Spain head coach until 2030 after reaching agreement with the Spanish FA on a new deal.
New contract after trophy wins
The extension would keep de la Fuente in charge for four more years beyond his current contract, which was due to run until 2028. The move follows Spain’s recent success under him, with the side winning Euro 2024 and the World Cup in July.
In charge for home World Cup
The new agreement means de la Fuente is expected to lead Spain at the 2030 World Cup, which they will co-host with Portugal and Morocco. Spain will go into that tournament as defending world champions.
De la Fuente’s record since taking over has also been strong, with Spain losing only twice in 41 competitive matches.
