ديديه دشان has turned down an approach from the Turkish FA after it explored the idea of appointing him following Turkey’s group-stage exit at the 2026 World Cup.
Turkey made the first move
According to Le Figaro, the federation contacted people close to the 57-year-old to assess whether he would be open to the job. Deschamps and his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernès, did not take up the offer.
The report says Deschamps wants more time before choosing his next project and does not want to step straight back into coaching after ending his 14-year spell with France. He is expected to keep his options open, with club jobs in Europe, work in the Middle East and another national-team post all under consideration.
Future still open
Deschamps ended his France tenure after the 2026 World Cup and was succeeded by Zinedine Zidane. He led France from 2012 and won the 2018 World Cup during that spell.
His name has also been linked in recent months with Real Madrid and Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, though neither move led to an agreement. Turkey, meanwhile, continues with Vincenzo Montella while it weighs up its next steps.
