Mustafa Shobeir has been ranked among the top five goalkeepers at the 2026 World Cup by FIFA’s Power Ranking system.
The ranking is based entirely on tournament data, rather than the usual expert selections for weekly teams of the tournament. FIFA evaluates every player who has played at least 20 minutes, with goalkeepers judged on two main areas: on-ball work and off-ball performance.
Shobeir’s displays helped Egypt reach the round of 16, and he remains one of the highest-scoring keepers in the competition despite Egypt’s 3-2 defeat to Argentina.
Spanish newspaper AS reported that Spain’s Unai Simón sits fifth in the goalkeeper list. Ahead of him are Diogo Costa of Portugal, Gregor Kobel of Switzerland, Orlando Gill of Paraguay and Shobeir in first place among the keepers named.
Simón also set the World Cup record for the longest run without conceding, reaching 518 minutes in his latest Spain appearance. That was not enough to move him above Shobeir in FIFA’s data-led ranking.
