Fifa has begun selling fragments of the grass from the 2026 World Cup final pitch, with each piece listed at $450 in the organisation’s official store.
The move has drawn attention because Fifa has already faced criticism over high ticket prices for next year’s tournament, particularly for matches in the United States. The new souvenir has prompted fresh debate over how far the governing body is willing to monetise the event.
The final is due to be played on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Fifa says each item contains a genuine section of the grass that will be used on the day.
According to the product listing, each piece is housed in a clear acrylic case and comes with a dedicated USB flash drive. Fifa also says the packaging includes a hinged luxury box with UV printing, and that no two pieces are exactly the same because each is taken from the final’s playing surface.
Orders will only be shipped to addresses in the United States and Europe, and delivery will take place after the match has been played.
