Liverpool’s new attacking link-up between Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak is already producing numbers. All three of Isak’s Premier League goals this season have come from Gakpo assists, with the latest pair arriving in the 2-0 win at Ipswich.
Fast start at Ipswich
Isak scored twice inside the opening nine minutes as Liverpool took control early and secured the three points. Both goals were set up by Gakpo, who also stood out for his movement, carrying and constant presence in advanced areas.
The Sweden forward had already scored once against Nottingham Forest, and that goal too came from Gakpo’s final pass. That leaves every Premier League goal Isak has scored for Liverpool so far with the same source of service.
Early pattern in attack
The numbers point to an attacking partnership that has settled quickly. Gakpo has not only created chances for Isak, but has also pulled defenders around and helped Liverpool sustain pressure higher up the pitch.
For Isak, the goals matter after a slow start at his new club. The brace against Ipswich gave him a sharper return and underlined how quickly the pair have become central to Liverpool’s attack.
