A Hot Market for Unattached Coaches in Europe

Several of the biggest names in coaching are currently out of work, leaving clubs and national teams with a rare pool of high-profile options.

Guardiola and Slot available

Pep Guardiola, the former Manchester City head coach, is still away from the dugout after leaving the club in summer 2026. His record in England and Europe keeps him among the most prominent coaches in the game, and any return would draw attention.

Arne Slot is also available after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season. The Dutchman won the Premier League in his first campaign at Anfield, then had a weaker second season, and he is now working as a UEFA technical observer while preferring a return to club football.

Other names on the list

Antonio Conte is another option after his spell at Napoli ended. Known for his tactical discipline and quick results, he remains a candidate for clubs looking for a change in the technical area.

Julian Nagelsmann, the former Germany head coach, and Didier Deschamps, who previously led France, are also on the list and could return to club football after their international spells.

No next destination can be pinned down for any of them yet, but any change on a major bench could trigger a fresh scramble for leading coaches.
