Pep Guardiola has rejected a formal approach from Al Ahli, according to his agent Jose Maria Orobitg, after the Saudi club explored him as a successor to Matthias Jaissle.
Talks end without agreement
Orobitg told Okaz that Al Ahli opened channels with Guardiola’s representatives, but the Spaniard does not want to return to coaching at present. That decision was the main reason the two sides did not reach an agreement.
Guardiola has turned down several offers since leaving Manchester City, preferring to take a break before deciding on his next move.
Al Ahli move on to other option
After the talks broke down, Al Ahli appointed Dutch coach Marino Buscic as Jaissle’s replacement.
Al Ahli have been one of Saudi Arabia’s strongest sides in recent years, winning the AFC Champions League Elite in back-to-back seasons.
