Carlos Queiroz is in serious talks with the Bahrain Football Association over taking charge of the national team, according to a source close to the Portuguese coach cited by Kooora.
Talks over Bahrain role
The source told Kooora that Queiroz held a meeting with Bahrain football officials and that the move could be finalised within days. Bahrain are looking for a new head coach after Dragan Talajic, the Croatian, came close to dismissal following a disappointing group-stage exit at the Gulf Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Queiroz left Ghana by mutual consent after a run of poor results in his second spell. Ghana lost their opening two games in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, against Ivory Coast and Gambia.
Fifth Arab national team?
If the move goes through, Bahrain would be Queiroz's fifth Arab national team job. He has previously coached the United Arab Emirates from 1998 to 1999, Egypt from 2020 to 2021, Qatar in 2023 and Oman from 2025 to 2026. The source also said Queiroz has the 2027 Asian Cup in mind.
