Hossam Hassan said the emotion of Egypt's 3-1 win over New Zealand belonged to the whole country after his side claimed their first-ever victory at a World Cup.
The Egypt coach was visibly moved after the Group G win in Vancouver, where Egypt moved to the top of the table. He said the result meant as much to him as it did to millions of Egyptians who had waited years for the breakthrough.
Hassan said he had told his players before kick-off to go out and get the win, and praised the support they received from the fans in the Canadian stadium.
He also thanked the players for turning the game around and singled out his backroom staff, especially his brother Ibrahim Hassan, for their work behind the scenes.
