Zlatan Ibrahimović has praised Cape Verde after their World Cup 2026 exit, saying the debutants made football more beautiful despite losing 3-2 to Argentina after extra time.
The Sweden great, speaking as a FOX Sports pundit, said Cape Verde left the tournament without a defeat in normal time. He described them as a small island nation with big dreams and said their achievement would be remembered in the history books.
Cape Verde reached the knockout stage after drawing with Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia in the group phase. They then pushed the defending champions all the way before Argentina settled the tie in extra time.
Their run became one of the standout stories of the tournament. Cape Verde, a country of around half a million people, took on some of football’s biggest names and earned praise for the way they played.
