Ivory Coast head coach Embare Fay said missed chances cost his side in their 2-1 last-16 defeat to Norway at the 2026 World Cup.
Fay pointed to the decisive moments in the closing stages, saying his team failed to turn good openings into goals and then conceded a late winner. He said the players fought to the end against a brave Norway side that protected its lead with organised defending.
The Ivory Coast coach added that fine margins decide matches at the top level and said this was the first World Cup for every player in the squad. He said the group had improved throughout the tournament and learned important lessons.
Fay finished by saying he was proud of the team and did not blame anyone for the exit. He said the squad gave everything and would keep working towards the future.
