Harry Kane has said he would swap the Golden Boot for World Cup glory as England prepare to face Norway in the quarter-finals tonight.
The Bayern Munich forward has six goals at the tournament, one behind Haaland, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi level on eight at the top of the scoring chart. Speaking to Marca, Kane said the competition has been a strong one for goalscorers, but added that England’s target is the trophy, not the individual award.
He also declined to compare himself directly with Haaland, describing the Norway striker as a different type of forward. Kane praised Haaland’s physical qualities and said he respected him as a professional, while explaining that he prefers to get more involved in build-up play as well as scoring.
If England beat Norway, they will face either holders Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals. The winners of that tie would then meet France or Spain in the final.
