La Liga to deploy up to 40 cameras for El Clasico

La Liga plans expanded coverage

La Liga and the television broadcasters are preparing an unusually large broadcast set-up for next Sunday’s El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo.

The report says between 35 and 40 cameras will be installed at Camp Nou, far more than the roughly 22 normally used for A-grade matches. The fixture has been classified as A+, which justifies the wider set-up.

4K cameras and VAR angles

Alongside the standard broadcast cameras, the coverage is expected to include long-range equipment and cinema cameras capable of 4K transmission. The arrangement is also designed to help officials, including the referee and VAR team, get a fuller view of incidents on the pitch.

Mundo Deportivo added that the broadcast plan should allow closer monitoring of players such as Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe, two of the main attractions in the match.
