Lazio have made their best start in club history under Gennaro Gattuso, staying unbeaten after nine Serie A matches with eight wins and one draw.
A record start in Rome
The Rome club began the season with a 1-0 win over Bologna, then beat Genoa by the same score. They followed that with a 2-1 victory over Udinese, a 2-2 draw with Milan and a 2-0 win over Venezia.
Further wins over Monza, Juventus and Parma kept the run going. Monza were beaten 3-1, Juventus 3-0 and Parma 2-1, before Lazio produced their biggest result of the campaign against Sassuolo.
Sassuolo win stands out
Gattuso’s side won 6-2 against Sassuolo, despite missing two penalties in the match. That left Lazio with 22 goals scored and seven conceded from their first nine league games.
The figures give them 25 points from a possible 27. Lazio host Cagliari on Sunday in Serie A and can extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches.
