Mbappe sets out Real Madrid ambition
Kylian Mbappe has said he expects Real Madrid to win trophies this season, after returning to Madrid following France's run to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup and his summer break.
The 27-year-old said he was happy to be back at Valdebebas with the squad and coaching staff, and stressed that the club now has more time to work before the league campaign begins.
Praise for Mourinho
Mbappe also spoke about Jose Mourinho, who recently replaced Alvaro Arbeloa at Real Madrid. He said they had spoken often during the World Cup and described Mourinho as a positive presence on the bench because of his record of winning trophies and driving teams towards victory.
Mbappe said the team should use the current period to work at full intensity before shifting focus to managing the demands of the season. He added that Real must stay concentrated throughout the campaign if they want to bring joy to the supporters.
Memories of his first Real game
The forward also looked back on his first appearance for Real, the UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta, which he called a special night. He said joining Madrid had been a dream and remained one, but insisted the priority now is to win silverware.
