Kylian Mbappé has the chance to chase four historic records at the 2026 World Cup.
The Real Madrid forward already has 55 goals for France and needs two more to move past Olivier Giroud and become his country’s outright leading scorer. He is also on 12 World Cup goals, leaving him two short of Just Fontaine’s France record of 13 in the tournament.
A bigger target is Miroslav Klose’s all-time World Cup mark of 16. Mbappé would need five more goals to pass it and move to the top of the competition’s scoring chart.
He also has four goals in World Cup finals, one against Croatia in 2018 and three against Argentina in 2022. If France reach another final and Mbappé scores, he would become the first player to net five times in World Cup finals.
At 27, Mbappé is already one of the most decorated World Cup players of his generation. In 2026, he has the chance to add several more pages to the record books.
