Kylian Mbappé has said France want revenge on Spain ahead of their World Cup semi-final, after La Roja beat Belgium 2-1 to set up the tie.
Quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport, Mbappé was asked whether he would have preferred to face Belgium. He rejected that idea, saying France want to get their own back on Spain and that Belgium would have wanted the same against France.
The France captain also declined to compare the current squad with past generations. He said he has already won one World Cup and finished as runner-up once, but stressed that this France side still have to prove themselves on the pitch.
Mbappé said talent alone will not win the tournament, adding that only a World Cup title brings real peace of mind. He also pointed to the squad’s passion for playing for France and the responsibility that comes with representing a country with a strong World Cup history.
France have reached the semi-finals, but Mbappé said the hardest matches are still to come.
