McTominay's quick return to form
Scott McTominay was out in early September after doctors found a benign arrhythmia, with heart ablation the only way for him to resume his career. The 29-year-old missed four matches, then needed three more appearances, two in Serie A and one in the Champions League, to get back to peak condition.
Since then, he has scored four goals in two games. On 20 October, he struck twice in Napoli's 3-3 draw with Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, with one finish from inside the box and a header from a team-mate's cross.
Four days later, he repeated the trick against Roma in Serie A. Another header and another shot gave him two more goals in a 3-3 draw.
Napoli's main source of goals
According to Transfermarkt, McTominay's value is now €40 million. Napoli paid Manchester United €30 million for him in 2024.
He has scored more goals for Napoli than any other player since joining, overtaking the club's forwards and players such as Romelu Lukaku and Rasmus Højlund. In 87 matches over the past three seasons, he has scored 31 goals and set up 10 more.
His first season ended with 13 goals and a decisive role in Napoli's 2024-25 title run, including six goals in the final seven weeks. He added 14 more last season and now has four more this term.
