Napoli face Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, 20 October, with Massimiliano Allegri under growing scrutiny after a poor start in Europe and a recent league defeat.
European pressure builds
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Champions League match at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is an important one for both Napoli and their head coach. Napoli have lost both of their opening games in the competition, going down 3-1 to Villarreal after an earlier defeat to Arsenal.
That leaves the Italian side without a point in the league phase and needing a win against the Norwegian club to get back into the running. Bodo/Glimt arrive in Naples on the back of a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
No move for a replacement yet
Romano also said Napoli's directors have not contacted other coaches about replacing Allegri. That means there is still no sign of a firm decision to end his spell in charge, despite talk around the club after the shock loss to Venezia.
The result on Tuesday may not settle Allegri's future on its own, but it is likely to shape the atmosphere around the team and the level of trust in the coach.
