Lionel Messi says Argentina head into the 2026 World Cup in good shape and with the belief that any opponent will find them difficult to beat.
Speaking to Argentine newspaper Olé, the captain said he shares the same excitement as supporters and is focused on going as far as possible in the tournament. He described the squad as united, strong and motivated.
"We are a group united, strong and full of motivation," Messi said. "No matter how far we go, be sure we will give everything for success."
Messi, a record eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, also said he feels calm and content as he prepares for the competition. He added that he has enjoyed training and time with his team-mates during camp, and wants to make the most of the experience.
The Inter Miami forward said his recent run of matches has left him feeling in good condition. He noted that both at club level and with Argentina, he has been competing at a high level as he tries to arrive at the World Cup ready.
Messi said expectations are always high when Argentina go to a World Cup, but believes the side still has the same hunger after their recent success. He added that the players have had enough time to train and are gradually moving towards their best form.
