Morocco beat the Netherlands on penalties in the 2026 World Cup last 16 to reach the round of 16. The match in Monterrey finished 1-1 after extra time, with Morocco prevailing 3-2 in the shootout.
Cody Gakpo put the Netherlands ahead in the 72nd minute, but Morocco levelled deep into stoppage time through Issa Diop.
After 120 minutes could not separate the sides, Morocco held their nerve from the spot to book their place in the next round. The result came in the fourth last-16 tie of the tournament.
