Neymar has said he wants a year away from responsibility after he retires from football, with his future at Santos still unresolved.
What he said
The 34-year-old told the programme Varanda Gourmet that he does not want to move straight from playing into other commitments. "Naturally, when I retire, I won't do anything for a year; I'll just rest and enjoy myself," he said.
He added that he wants more freedom after years of pressure in professional football. "My plan is this. If I feel like playing football today, I play. If I don't feel like doing anything, I do nothing," he said.
Watching from the sofa
Neymar also said he prefers playing to watching matches on television. The former Barcelona forward said he loves football, but not enough to sit on the sofa and follow games on TV.
He recalled his time at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, saying team-mates would spend hours watching matches on their days off, a habit he found irritating.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Neymar discussed his post-retirement plans in the interview and said his immediate focus is not on life after football.
