Pedri has said Barcelona’s meeting with Real Madrid gives them a chance to recover from their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and get back to winning ways.
Record chase at the start of the league season
Barcelona host their old rivals on Sunday in the 10th round of La Liga at the Spotify Camp Nou. Hansi Flick’s side have won all nine of their league matches so far and sit on 27 points.
A win would also move Barcelona into record territory. Real Madrid won their first nine league matches in the 1968-69 season, and no side has started a league campaign with 10 straight victories.
Pedri and Flick look for a response
Pedri posted on Instagram before the match and said the players are highly motivated. He said facing a big team in a major match gives Barcelona a chance to show what they can do, and added that the squad has the confidence needed to respond.
Flick is hoping to have Rodri back in the starting line-up to strengthen the midfield. Dani Olmo, Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen are among Barcelona’s expected absentees.
Barcelona have also scored 39 goals in La Liga this season, with Lamine Yamal on eight goals in nine matches and among the main threats in attack.
