Michael Olise is one assist away from matching Xavi’s World Cup record for through balls after reaching 11 at the 2026 tournament.
The France midfielder has the chance to equal, and possibly beat, Xavi’s total of 12 from 2010 while Les Bleus remain in the competition.
Olise turned in one of the standout displays of the round of 16 against Sweden. He recorded 94 touches and completed 63 of his 69 passes, the highest numbers on the pitch, while also creating five chances.
France won 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals, and Olise played a central role from his No 10 position behind Kylian Mbappé. He supplied two fine assists, for Bradley Barcola and Mbappé, and took his tournament assist tally to five.
