Pere Romeu wins Johan Cruyff women's coaching award

Pere Romeu has won the Johan Cruyff Award for women's football at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony in London.

Barcelona's quadruple season

The 32-year-old Spaniard led Barcelona Women to a quadruple in 2025-26, with the club winning the Champions League, Liga F, the Copa de la Reina and the Spanish Super Cup.

Barcelona beat Lyon 4-0 in the Champions League final to lift the trophy for a fourth time in the competition's history.

Rival coaches in the running

Romeu was up against Lyon coach Jonatan Giráldez, Manchester City's Andrée Jeglertz, former Japan head coach Nils Nielsen and Häcken coach Elin Sævik for the award.

He has been in charge of Barcelona Women since summer 2024, and the individual honour caps a season that also brought four team trophies.
