Gilberto Mora has emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid and Barcelona after his latest run of form for Mexico, according to AS and Footbali.
International breakthrough
The 17-year-old Tijuana midfielder scored his first senior international goal in Mexico’s friendly against Colombia, a match that finished 1-1. Mora drove into the box, beat several defenders and finished neatly to draw attention again.
His display has reportedly increased interest from major European clubs, with AS saying Real Madrid have been monitoring him for some time through their scouting network. The Spanish outlet first reported in 2025 that Madrid were already following his progress closely.
Barcelona interest and future plan
Mundo Deportivo recently reported that Barcelona are also interested, although no formal move was made at the time. Mexico head coach and former Barcelona coach Rafa Márquez has also compared Mora’s style to Lamine Yamal.
Mora has recently extended his contract with Tijuana. AS says that renewal could form part of a plan to prepare for a future move to Europe, although no official agreement with Madrid or Barcelona has been announced.
