Security teams will use robot dogs during the 2026 World Cup to patrol stadiums and support operations, according to a report from Teknak’s robotics desk.
The plan comes as rights groups and some fans raise concerns about the growing security presence around the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Those concerns have sharpened amid tighter US immigration policy and protests linked to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Spot robots from Boston Dynamics were recently seen at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, drawing attention on social media. That prompted speculation that facial recognition might be involved in tracking spectators.
Boston Dynamics has rejected that idea. A company spokesperson said the robots do not have facial recognition capabilities.
The company said their main role is to help security staff inspect suspicious packages, hazardous materials and situations that could put people at risk. The appearance of the robots at stadiums is likely to remain a talking point as the tournament approaches.
