Spain have set a new record for the longest unbeaten run by a men’s national team after beating Croatia 4-1 and extending their streak to 40 matches.
Record run
The victory took Spain beyond the previous mark of 37 unbeaten games held by Italy. Before facing Croatia, Spain had gone 39 matches without defeat, a sequence that included 30 wins and nine draws.
Their last loss came on 22 March 2024, when Colombia beat them 1-0 in a friendly. Spain then drew with Brazil before beginning the run that has now taken them through Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

Lamine Yamal, Marc Pubill and Nico Williams were among Spain’s scorers in the win over Croatia, which completed the latest stage of the team’s record-breaking stretch.
