Sporting Lisbon have been listed as the second-most successful club at producing Ballon d'Or winners, according to French magazine France Football.
Sporting's place in the ranking
The Portuguese club's tally comes from Luis Figo's win in 2000 and Cristiano Ronaldo's five awards in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. That gives Sporting six Ballon d'Or wins from players developed at the club.
Barcelona sit top of the same ranking with eight wins from Lionel Messi. Sporting are the only club immediately below them.
No place for modern spending power
The source says clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester City do not appear in the list. The ranking is based on academy development and early talent identification rather than recent spending power.
