Sweden began their 2026 World Cup run with a 5-1 victory over Tunisia in Monterrey, taking control early and never letting go.
Yasin Ayari opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Sweden had already created several chances. Alexander Isak doubled the lead on 30 minutes from a quick counter-attack, before Tunisia pulled one back through Omar Rekik just before half-time.
Sweden stayed on top after the break and restored their two-goal cushion in the 59th minute when a Tunisia defensive error allowed Viktor Gyökeres to score. Substitute Mathias Svanberg made it 4-1 in the 84th minute shortly after coming on, and Ayari rounded off the scoring deep into stoppage time.
The result gave Sweden the first three points in Group F and left Tunisia with work to do after a heavy defeat.
