Sweden opened their 2026 World Cup campaign with a 5-1 win over Tunisia and moved to the top of Group F.
Graham Potter said his side began strongly, played with confidence from the first minute and used an early goal to settle into their game plan. He also praised the attacking quality of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres, and singled out Yasin Ayari for special mention.
Potter was keen to stress that the result means only three points in a tight group. He pointed to the strength of the Netherlands and Japan and said Sweden must keep the same focus and motivation in the matches ahead.
The victory gives Sweden an ideal start, but Potter’s message was clear: the job is not close to finished.
