Thomas Tuchel is considering reducing Harry Kane’s minutes in some matches as England prepare for a major tournament.
The move would be aimed at keeping the captain fresh for the later stages, rather than treating him as a simple tactical call. Kane, England’s record scorer with 78 international goals, has come through the heaviest season of his career and played more than 4,400 minutes for Bayern Munich.
Hot and humid conditions at the tournament are also expected to make workload management more important. Tuchel has other attacking options available in Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, both of whom enjoyed strong seasons and could cover part of Kane’s role if needed.
England’s wider target remains a first major trophy for nearly six decades. The thinking behind any rotation is clear: preserve key players for the knockout rounds, where small details often decide whether a team goes home or lifts the trophy.
