Turkey’s football federation has appointed Sergen Yalçın as its new head coach on a four-year contract after deciding to dismiss Vincenzo Montella.
Montella replaced after poor results
The federation moved on from the Italian coach after a run of disappointing results. Yalçın, 53, takes over as Turkey’s national team coach.
Yalçın returns to international management
Yalçın has also coached Beşiktaş. His biggest success came in 2020-21, when he led the Istanbul club to a league and cup double.
Since then, he has not produced a notable run of results in Turkish football.
