Unai Simón breaks Casillas' Spain clean-sheet record

Unai Simón has set a new Spain record for the longest run without conceding a World Cup goal, passing Iker Casillas' total during the match against Austria.

The Spain goalkeeper has now reached 476 consecutive minutes without letting in a goal at the tournament. Casillas had held the national record since a spell that stretched across the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Simón's last World Cup goal conceded came against Japan in the group stage of the 2022 tournament. Since then, he has kept a clean sheet in every World Cup appearance.

He now has a chance to go beyond Walter Zenga's tournament record for Italy, set at 517 minutes without conceding at the 1990 World Cup.
