Al-Hilal Saudi FC vs Al-Ittihad FC 3-2

Al-Hilal Saudi FC beat Al-Ittihad FC 3-2 at Kingdom Arena after Steven Bergwijn converted a penalty in the 89th minute. Al-Hilal led 3-1 before they had to close out the final stages after that late reply.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for Al-Hilal in the 11th minute from Ollie Watkins' assist, and Youssef En-Nesyri levelled for Al-Ittihad in the 22nd minute from Marwan Al-Sahafi's pass. Watkins then restored Al-Hilal's lead on 30 minutes, before his strike was ruled out by VAR three minutes into first-half stoppage time. It was 2-1 at the break.

Crysencio Summerville made it 3-1 on 64 minutes from Watkins' second assist of the match, and Al-Hilal made two changes in the 67th minute, with Saimon Bouabre replaced by Mohamed Kanno and Theo Hernandez by Moteb Al-Harbi. Al-Ittihad answered with two changes on 69 minutes, then brought on Mukhtar Ali and Saleh Al-Shehri on 83 minutes, but they still needed VAR to confirm the penalty that gave Bergwijn the chance to make it 3-2 on 89 minutes. Al-Hilal also made two changes on 81 minutes before Hassan Al-Tambakti was replaced by Ali Lajami on 90 minutes, and they kept the lead through the closing stages.

The numbers fitted a home win more than the possession did. Al-Hilal also had 3 saves to Al-Ittihad's 4 and committed 14 fouls to 11.

Al-Hilal's only booking went to Rúben Neves in the 37th minute. Al-Ittihad had two yellow cards, for Dion Lopy on 38 minutes and Steven Bergwijn on 73 minutes.
