Cordoba vs Tenerife 3-2

Cordoba beat Tenerife 3-2 at Estadio Nuevo Arcángel, with the winner coming from Ismael Ruiz Sánchez in the 77th minute after Tenerife had hauled themselves level. A frantic second half saw the lead change hands twice.

Cordoba went ahead in the third minute when Eder Garcia scored from Cristian Carracedo’s assist, and VAR confirmed the goal a minute later. Tenerife levelled in the 17th minute through Christian Pierre Louis Gomis, set up by Ivan Chapela, before Diego Percan restored Cordoba’s lead in the 23rd minute from Diego Bri’s pass. That left it 2-1 at half-time.

Grant Leon Ranos, who had come on in the 57th minute, equalised for Tenerife in the 68th minute after a pass from Fabricio Assis de Souza Barbosa. Cordoba responded nine minutes later when Ismael Ruiz Sánchez made it 3-2, and that proved enough despite Tenerife’s late pressure. Cordoba then made two changes in the 84th minute, while Tenerife were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute when Juanjo Sánchez was sent off after earlier being booked. VAR had already gone against Tenerife in the first half, overturning what would have been a red card for Rubén González Alves in the 29th minute.

Cordoba had 62% of the ball, made 480 passes to Tenerife’s 290 and had 16 shots to 10, with 6 on target to 2. Tenerife won 8 corners to 4 and were caught offside 4 times, while Cordoba did not go offside once. Tenerife’s goalkeeper made 3 saves, and Cordoba committed 18 fouls to Tenerife’s 13.

There were four yellow cards for Cordoba: Rubén González Alves, Cristian Carracedo, Daniel Budesca and Daniel Esmoris Tasende. Tenerife collected five yellows for Gerard Valentín, Enric Gallego, Juanjo Sánchez, Anthony Landazuri and Dani Martín, and Juanjo Sánchez was also sent off in the 87th minute.
