Switzerland vs Slovenia 2-1

Switzerland came from 2-0 down to beat Slovenia 2-1 in Lucerne, with Dan Ndoye and an own goal from Erik Janža turning the match after the visitors had struck twice early on.

Slovenia led inside two minutes when Zan Vipotnik scored from an assist by Aljosa Matko to make it 0-1, and they doubled that advantage on 10 minutes through Erik Janža’s own goal for 0-2. Switzerland pulled one back in the 38th minute when Dan Ndoye scored to leave it 1-2 at half-time.

The second half brought no more goals, but Switzerland kept pressing after the break and made changes in the 67th minute, sending on Sascha Britschgi and Djibril Sow. Slovenia responded with a double change on 64 minutes, then another at 78 and 89 minutes, but they could not protect the early lead as Switzerland saw the game out after Ndoye’s equaliser had given them the platform.

The home side had 67% of the ball and 581 passes to Slovenia’s 281, and also led the shot count 13-10 and shots on target 6-3. Switzerland won 4 corners to 3, while Slovenia had more saves, 6 to 2, and more fouls, 15 to 8.

Discipline was heavier on the visitors’ side. Slovenia collected five yellow cards, with Zan Vipotnik booked on 23 minutes, David Zec on 28, Vanja Drkusic on 29, Jaka Bijol on 58 and Erik Janža on 79. Switzerland had one booking, for Michel Aebischer on 40 minutes.
