Brazil’s shock last-16 exit to Norway has not changed Carlo Ancelotti’s future: the Italian is under contract with the federation until the 2030 World Cup.
Ancelotti took charge of Brazil in 2025 and had been in talks over an extension since the start of this year. He had already thanked the federation for its trust and the Brazilian public for their warm welcome and support after signing the new deal.
The defeat in the knockout stage does carry financial consequences. Ancelotti has lost a €5m bonus that was built into his contract if Brazil won the 2026 World Cup.
He remains the highest-paid national-team coach in world football, according to Diogo Dantas’ blog. The report says his renewed contract kept the same salary agreed in May 2025: €10m a year, the highest pay ever given to a Brazil head coach.
His assistants Paul Clement and Francisco Mauri, fitness coach Mino Fulco and analyst Simone Montanaro also received pay rises as part of the renewal.
