Argentina beat England 2-1 in Atlanta to reach the 2026 World Cup final, recovering from a second-half deficit with two late goals.
A goalless first half featured plenty of physical duels, fouls and tactical battles, but neither side found a breakthrough before the interval. England went ahead in the 56th minute through Anthony Gordon, and Jordan Pickford then kept Argentina at bay as Scaloni’s team pushed for an equaliser.
The pressure finally told in the 85th minute, when Enzo Fernández levelled from outside the box. Deep into stoppage time, Lionel Messi picked out Lautaro Martínez, who headed home in the 92nd minute to complete the turnaround.
Argentina will face Spain in the final on Sunday, 28 July, at 22:30 Tehran time. England meet France in the third-place play-off.
