Arsenal shift targets after Vinicius signs Real Madrid extension

Arsenal have moved on from Vinicius Junior after Real Madrid extended the Brazil winger’s contract to 2032, ending speculation over a possible exit.

The club had been tracking Vinicius and were prepared to meet his financial demands, but one Arsenal executive told TEAMtalk the renewal was disappointing rather than unexpected. The official said Vinicius had never been the only target and that work on alternatives was already under way.

Other names on the shortlist

Arsenal are now concentrating on other attacking options, with Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye of Paris Saint-Germain, Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao and Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid all mentioned as possibilities.

Vinicius joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 for €45 million. He played 53 times last season, scoring 22 goals and providing 14 assists.
