Brazil will not change head coach after their surprise exit from the 2026 World Cup, with Carlo Ancelotti retaining full backing from the federation.
The Seleção lost 2-1 to Norway in the round of 16, a result that has been described as one of their worst World Cup setbacks. But according to Fabrizio Romano, the defeat has not altered the Brazilian football federation’s long-term plans.
Rodrigo Caetano, Brazil’s national team coordinator, said the current process should continue without emotional decisions. He added that Ancelotti is contracted to remain in charge until the end of the 2030 World Cup cycle.
Ancelotti took over Brazil after leaving Real Madrid in May 2025 and later extended his deal through to the 2030 tournament. The Italian coach said his aim was to lead Brazil to a sixth world title, but the early elimination leaves them with one of their poorest World Cup results.
