Colombia beat Ghana 1-0 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City to seal a place in the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Jhon Arias struck in the 14th minute after a cross from Luis Suárez, and Colombia controlled much of the first half without adding a second goal. Ghana held firm to reach the break with the score still tight.
The Colombians thought they had doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Luis Díaz finished an attack, but the assistant referee’s flag went up for offside. A minute later, Ghana’s goalkeeper denied another Colombia effort as the game remained alive.
Chances became scarce after that, with the match settling into a more even spell before finishing with Arias’s early goal as the difference.
Carlos Queiroz, who previously coached Colombia, was eliminated against his former side. French referee Clément Turpin booked Arias and Richard Rios for Colombia, along with Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Issahaku and Aldiu Seidu for Ghana.
