Antonio Conte has dismissed claims that he is close to taking over at Manchester United, saying no negotiations have reached an advanced stage and he is taking time over his next move.
Conte distances himself from United rumours
The Italian coach, who won Serie A with Napoli in 2024-25, responded to speculation on social media after his name was linked with several clubs, including United. The reports have come amid growing pressure on Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.
Conte said he had been named alongside many clubs, but that there was nothing concrete at present. He added that after a successful spell at Napoli, he wants to decide carefully how and when to return to management.
Financial claims are dismissed
He also rejected reports about special financial demands or conditions for accepting an offer, calling them baseless. Conte said any discussion of his requirements is only speculation until a serious, specific proposal arrives.
If a real offer comes in, he said he would talk through the terms with the club and weigh both sides’ needs. For now, there is no confirmed agreement for him to take charge at United.
