Spain beat France to reach the 2026 World Cup final, and Luis de la Fuente said his side had taken down “one of the best teams in the world”.
The Spain coach praised the collective effort after the win, saying the squad had gathered four years ago for moments like this. He added that the result showed belief in the group and the players’ conviction about what they are fighting for.
“Today we beat a team that is one step ahead of everyone,” de la Fuente said. “This team believes in itself. We have reached the final and this is only the beginning.”
Pedro Porro also reacted emotionally after the match, describing the moment as a dream come true and saying it was his biggest ambition. He said he was thrilled with Spain’s performance from start to finish and felt they had played a brilliant game.
Spain now await the winner of Argentina v England in the final. Victory there would bring a second world title, 16 years after their first, and put de la Fuente’s team alongside the great sides in Spanish football history.
